| Question: | I have a septic system can I use Ecogent? |
| Answer: | ECOgent will it cause any problems? ECOgent degrades under all environmental conditions, that is, both aerobic and anaerobic bacteria will degrade ECOgent. Since septic systems utilize anaerobic bacteria, using a cleaner such as ECOgent, with a proven potential for degradation under anaerobic conditions, would not suppress the bacterial action in the septic system. Many cleaners that are labeled as biodegradable may still harm the action of anaerobic bacteria, since the information about their biodegradability is usually based on aerobic bacterial degradation. Many cleaners that degrade efficiently under aerobic conditions degrade very poorly under anaerobic conditions. Because ECOgent is not aquatically toxic and degrades well under anaerobic conditions, it will not cause additional environmental damage (though ultimately upgrading your septic system would be advisable to avoid the damage it may be causing). ECOgent can be used for all cleaning tasks including hand dishwashing as well as cleaning all of the environmental surfaces in and around your home. Although ECOgent is not designed specifically for use in the laundry (and therefore doesn’t contain optical brighteners) it can be used to wash clothes, and may be particularly useful in those areas where the surrounding environment may be particularly sensitive to damage from conventional laundry detergents. |
